Top 5 Crypto Exchanges

In my reviewing and ranking of top crypto exchanges I look at several factors and criteria to determine what I think are the top 5 exchange now in February 2025.
Exchange Criteria:
Availability in the US | Trusted/Reputable | Low Fees | Ease of Use | Number of Coins on Exchange | Additional Features
- Coinbase - One of the biggest and most known exchange in the industry. Coinbase is based in the US and offers 230+ Cryptocurrencies. Most of the ETFs on Wallstreet use Coinbase as their Crypto custodian. On the downside fees are general higher than other exchanges and their customer service is just adequate.
- Crypto.com - Has also been around for a long time and offers one of the best mobile crypto apps available. Offer over 350 Cryptocurrencies and lower fees than most other exchanges across the industry. However their customer service is considered one of the worst in the industry and can take an extend time to respond.
- Gemini - Based in the US and offers some of the best security among leading exchanges. Was one of the first exchanges to get SOC 2 certified and continues to be committed to the highest level of security. Gemini only offers 70+ crypto currencies with average fees, so if you are looking at large variety of coins to trade Gemini may not meet your needs.
- Binance US - Is an affiliate to the parent crypto exchange Binance (one of the leading exchanges across the world) who was suspended by the SEC for a lawsuit accusing the exchange for not properly registering themselves. They continue to work to get approved in all states across the US, but currently they are only approved to operate in 39 states. They offer over 150 Cryptocurrencies with very low fees, however withdrawal limits are very low at $5,000.
- Kraken - Hits all the marks with 230+ Cryptocurrencies available with lower fees than most. Their customer service is straightforward and you are able to easily contact a human by phone. However Kraken is not available in all states across the US so be sure to check if you state is eligible to use Kraken.
